Every Game I Knocked Off My Backlog, 2022
The Forgotten City
If there’s one genre that I saw a lot of in the early months of 2022, it was time loop mysteries. I was tempted to actually give the Skyrim mod a try, but after seeing a few videos of it, I think the stand alone original game is the better option. It’s got a great pace, and the quest journal does a good job of making sure you’ve always got at least one lead to pursue. I know others have felt that games more action oriented sessions seemed out of place, and while I half agree with that, I do think they present a nice change of style, even if they do drag on a little longer than I’d like. My only other major annoyance was how I had to retry the ending at least four times.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Someone, somewhere, told me that this game had a lot in similar with Obra Dinn. This was a lie. There’s nothing I hate more in ‘Walking Simulators’ than deciding to go explore some area off the beaten path, only to discover nothing interesting, and then having to slowly make my way back. The puzzles were uninteresting, and the actual plot was completely forgettable. At least it sure looked pretty.

RIP in Piece – 3DS and WiiU eShop
Back in late 2018, I decided that with the twilight of the 3DS on the horizon, it would be smart to upgrade to a New 3DS XL before Nintendo officially axed the thing. I ended up buying a brand new Samus Edition, and just to make I never had to worry about deleting old games to make room for new games, also got a hefty microSD for it as well.
OtaFest 2022 Haul
Went to OtaFest 2022 this year. Little disappointed with the merch haul this year though. This is probably the first time I left WITHOUT buying any old video games. Three years ago I picked up the DS ports of Front Mission and Rhapsody.
About $400 Worth of Hololive Weiẞ Schwarz Cards
Nothing says you have a problem like buying a bunch of cards for a Trading Card Game that you don’t even play, or might not even have any intention of playing. I don’t think I’ve touched a physical TCG since giving up on both Pokemon and MtG in the early 2000’s, so I’m a little scared of whatever spirit possessed me to drop $400 on a bunch of first edition Hololive Weiẞ Schwarz cards.
